Aragosaurus was a type of dinosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous period, around 145 to 140 million years ago. This dinosaur was found in the province of Teruel, in the region of Aragón, Spain. The name “Aragosaurus” means “Aragon lizard.”
Aragosaurus was a big dinosaur, about 18 meters long, which is about the size of three cars lined up. It weighed around 25 tons, making it quite heavy, like a small elephant.
This dinosaur was a plant-eater, known as a herbivore. It walked on four legs, which is why it’s called a quadruped. Aragosaurus had a long neck, a long tail, a bulky body, and a head that was smaller compared to its size. It looked somewhat like another dinosaur called Camarasaurus.
Only part of the skeleton of Aragosaurus has been found, but scientists named it in 1987. The creature had large and wide teeth, perfect for munching on leaves and branches from tall trees. Its front legs were almost the same length as its back legs, and its tail was strong and long, which likely helped it balance while moving.
